Brent CLT is proud to announce that it has received first-stage approval from Brent Council to explore a new community-led housing project at the Brentfield Road site for new homes in Stonebridge. This marks a key milestone in the journey to deliver genuinely affordable, resident-led housing for local people.
The Brentfield Road site for new homes includes a disused parking area and eight derelict garages. If granted planning permission, this underused space will be transformed into much-needed homes for Brent residents, offering a powerful example of how small urban sites can support community-driven regeneration.
Atara Fridler, Chair of Brent CLT, commented:
“We’re so pleased to be working with Brent Council and the local community to realise our vision of delivering much-needed homes in Brent. We can’t wait to see how a community-led approach to the design, planning and management of homes at this site can help us deliver more affordable housing for local people, controlled by local people.”
The Brentfield Road site for new homes reflects Brent CLT’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive neighbourhoods, where local people have a direct say in the future of their communities.
Councillor Promise Knight, Cabinet Member for Housing, Homelessness and Renters’ Security, added:
“This is the first, exciting step in Brent CLT’s journey towards providing genuinely affordable homes for Brent residents. I am looking forward to seeing how this project progresses in its engagement with the local community, who will be invited to share their ideas throughout the design, planning and construction stages.”
Next Steps: Community Engagement and Design
With initial approval secured, Brent CLT is now preparing the next phase of work—engaging residents and stakeholders to shape the future of the Brentfield Road site for new homes. Together, we can turn a forgotten corner of Stonebridge into a thriving, community-led development that reflects the needs and aspirations of Brent’s people.
